Get ABRO ATF Fluid Abro Premium Type A 1Litre in Kenya

Automatic transmissions are complex systems that require high-quality transmission fluid to function efficiently. The ABRO ATF Premium Type A is a specially formulated automatic transmission fluid (ATF) designed to provide smooth gear shifts, lubrication, cooling, and protection for transmission components.

This guide explores the composition, functions, benefits, usage, and maintenance tips of ABRO ATF Fluid Premium Type A in detail.

Understanding Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF)

1. What is ATF?

Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF) is a specialized lubricant and hydraulic fluid that performs multiple roles in an automatic transmission system, including:
Lubrication of moving parts
Heat dissipation and cooling
Transmission cleaning and wear protection
Hydraulic pressure transmission for gear shifts

2. Why is ATF Important?

ATF is essential to prevent transmission failures, ensure smooth shifting, and extend the lifespan of the gearbox. Using the right ATF type, like ABRO ATF Premium Type A, helps maintain transmission efficiency and avoid costly repairs.

What is ABRO ATF Fluid Premium Type A?

ABRO ATF Premium Type A is a high-performance automatic transmission fluid that meets the Type A specification, ensuring compatibility with a range of older model transmissions and hydraulic systems.

It is formulated with high-quality base oils and additives to enhance:
Friction control Ensures smooth gear shifting.
Oxidation resistance Prevents sludge formation.
Thermal stability Withstands high temperatures.
Seal conditioning Prevents leaks and seal hardening.
Wear protection Extends transmission life.

Key Functions of ABRO ATF Premium Type A

1. Lubrication

Reduces metal-to-metal friction, preventing wear and tear on gears, clutch plates, and bearings.

2. Heat Dissipation

Transmission generates intense heat during operation. ABRO ATF absorbs and dissipates heat to prevent overheating and thermal damage.

3. Hydraulic Function

ATF acts as a hydraulic fluid, enabling seamless gear shifts by engaging clutches and bands with the right pressure.

4. Contaminant Control

Contains detergents and dispersants to remove dirt, debris, and sludge, keeping the transmission clean.

5. Seal Conditioning

Prevents seal hardening and leaks, maintaining fluid integrity within the system.

Key Benefits of ABRO ATF Premium Type A

Smooth Gear Shifts Prevents jerking and rough transitions.
Enhanced Transmission Life Reduces wear on gears and components.
High Temperature Resistance Prevents overheating and fluid breakdown.
Oxidation Protection Minimizes sludge, varnish, and deposit buildup.
Leak Prevention Maintains rubber and metal seals in optimal condition.
Anti-Wear Formula Reduces friction and prevents premature part failure.
Multi-Vehicle Compatibility Suitable for older automatic transmissions, power steering systems, and some hydraulic applications.

How to Use ABRO ATF Premium Type A

1. Checking Transmission Fluid Level

Park the vehicle on a level surface.
Start the engine and let it warm up.
Locate the transmission dipstick (usually marked ATF).
Pull out the dipstick, wipe it clean, and reinsert it fully.
Remove again and check fluid level & color.

Normal ATF: Bright red and clear
Old or Contaminated ATF: Dark brown/black, with a burnt smell

2. Draining Old ATF

Place a drain pan under the transmission.
Unscrew the drain plug and allow old fluid to drain.
If possible, remove and replace the transmission filter.
Reinstall the drain plug and tighten it securely.

3. Refilling with ABRO ATF Premium Type A

Pour ABRO ATF fluid into the transmission via the dipstick tube or filler hole.
Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes.
Shift through all gears (P, R, N, D) to circulate fluid.
Recheck fluid level and top up if needed.

When to Change Transmission Fluid?

Change ATF every 30,000 to 60,000 km, depending on vehicle manufacturer recommendations.

Signs You Need to Replace ATF:
Delayed or hard shifting
Transmission slipping
Unusual noises (grinding, whining)
Burnt smell from the fluid
Fluid appears dark and dirty

Common Myths About ATF

You never need to change ATF.
Over time, ATF degrades and loses its protective properties, leading to transmission failure if not replaced.

All ATFs are the same.
Different transmissions require specific fluid types. Using the wrong ATF can cause gear slipping, overheating, and premature wear.

You can mix ATF brands.
Mixing different ATFs can lead to inconsistent performance and potential damage to the transmission system.

FAQs About ABRO ATF Type A

Can I use ABRO ATF Type A in power steering systems?
Yes, it is suitable for power steering units requiring ATF Type A fluid.

Is ABRO ATF compatible with Dexron or Mercon?
No, Dexron/Mercon require different friction properties. Check your vehicles manual.

Can I mix ABRO ATF Type A with other ATFs?
Mixing is not recommended. Always drain old ATF before refilling.

What happens if I overfill my transmission?
Overfilling can cause foaming, overheating, and transmission failure. Always use the correct amount.
